Ed from Satellite Beach Florida would like to know does Crisco all vegetable shortening work in cobbler? The answer is absolutely yes, it does work very well in peach cobbler. All vegetable shortening can be used to thicken the peach cobbler filling, or it can be used to soften or moisten up the peach cobbler crust. For a six to eight serving size cobbler dish, I will usually add a quarter to a half cup when making the crust, and then I will use about an eighth of a cup mixed into the peach filling. I do realize that vegetable shortening isn't the healthiest choice of things to add to a dessert dish, but it's extremely delicious, and I don't worry about eating it every once in a while.
